Mental Performance Coaching
Train Your Mind. Unlock Your Potential.
You dedicate countless hours to developing your body, refining your skills, and preparing for competition. Yet when the pressure rises, something changes. You hesitate. You overthink. Confidence fades. You become frustrated because you know you're capable of more than what you're consistently showing.Mental performance coaching helps close the gap between your potential and your performance.
At Life Well Dunn, mental performance isn't about motivational speeches or simply "thinking positive." It's about intentionally developing the psychological skills that allow you to trust yourself, regulate your emotions, recover from mistakes, stay focused under pressure, and perform with confidence—regardless of the scoreboard.
Whether you're an athlete, coach, executive, first responder, military member, student, or another high performer, your mind can become either your greatest advantage or your biggest obstacle. The good news is that mental performance is a skill set—and like any skill, it can be developed.
Is This You?
You may benefit from mental performance coaching if you:
Perform better in practice than in competition.
Lose confidence after mistakes.
Overthink instead of trusting your instincts.
Feel pressure from expectations, coaches, parents, or yourself.
Struggle with confidence, consistency, or focus.
Let one mistake turn into a bad game or performance.
Feel mentally exhausted before competition even begins.
Know you're capable of more than you're consistently demonstrating.
Want to perform with greater freedom, confidence, and enjoyment.
These aren't character flaws. They're trainable skills.
My Approach
No two performers are exactly alike, so no two coaching plans should be either.
We'll begin with a comprehensive assessment to identify your strengths, opportunities for growth, and the factors that may be influencing your performance. From there, we'll create a personalized Performance Roadmap using the Life Well Dunn Performance Framework, designed to help you develop the mental skills necessary to perform consistently under pressure.
Regulation: Learn to regulate your nervous system, manage stress, recover quickly from adversity, and compete with greater emotional control and composure.
Identity: Develop confidence rooted in who you are—not simply in your latest result. We'll strengthen your values, standards, beliefs, and sense of purpose so confidence becomes more stable and resilient.
Capacity: Build the mental skills that support high performance, including attention control, resilience, self-awareness, emotional flexibility, focus, and adaptability.
Expression: Bring everything together so you can trust your preparation, communicate effectively, make confident decisions, and consistently express your abilities when they matter most.
Coaching That Creates Lasting Change
Our work extends far beyond a weekly conversation.
Depending on your needs, coaching may include:
A personalized Performance Roadmap
Individualized mental performance strategies
Weekly action steps and accountability
Performance routines and competition preparation
Practical tools you can immediately apply
Progress tracking and reassessment
Support between sessions
The objective isn't simply to help you feel more confident.
It's to help you become the type of performer who remains composed, intentional, and resilient regardless of pressure, adversity, or outcomes.
Performance Coaching vs. Therapy
At Life Well Dunn, I offer both Mental Performance Coaching and Therapy, but they serve different purposes.
Mental Performance Coaching is designed for individuals who want to optimize performance, strengthen mental skills, and consistently perform at a higher level. Together, we'll focus on developing confidence, attention, emotional regulation, resilience, communication, leadership, routines, and the mindset needed to perform under pressure.
Therapy is a clinical mental health service designed to help individuals understand, heal from, and work through emotional, psychological, relational, or behavioral concerns that may be affecting their well-being. Therapy may include assessment, diagnosis when appropriate, and evidence-based treatment for mental health conditions.
Simply put:
Performance Coaching helps you optimize your performance.
Therapy helps you heal what's getting in the way.
While the skills developed through coaching often improve confidence, resilience, and emotional control, mental performance coaching is not psychotherapy and is not intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If clinical concerns arise during coaching, we'll discuss whether therapy or another appropriate mental health service would best support your needs.
The Goal
Confidence isn't something you wait to feel. It's something you build.
Mental toughness isn't something you're born with. It's something you train.
If you're ready to stop letting your mind limit your performance and begin developing the habits, routines, and psychological skills that allow you to consistently compete, lead, and perform at your highest level, I'd be honored to work alongside you.
Train your mind with the same intention you train your body—and discover what's possible when both begin working together.
